By accident we are all here.

Niby przypadkiem | Accidentally on Purpose brings together 12 artists based across Berlin, Biel, Dublin, Warsaw and London, who find themselves, coincidentally, in a kindred network of two self-initiated gallery projects: Turnus in Warsaw and Collective Ending in London. The exhibition is a celebration of shared commitments to support new contemporary art in a context of open access, community and creative collaboration.

Collective Ending is an artist-led initiative founded in 2018 to support emerging artists by providing them with opportunities to explore and develop their practices in ambitious and experimental settings. Collective Ending HQ, founded 2019, is a collectively run studio and gallery complex in Deptford, London.

Turnus is an art gallery, café and shop based over two floors at 46/48 Wolska Street in Warsaw. Founded in 2019, with a permanent location from 2023 - it is open daily and includes a programme of exhibitions, workshops, meetings, film screenings, parties and concerts. Turnus represents Ant Łakomsk, Piotr Kowalski and Tomek Tofilski, a group of emerging young artists.

CONSTELLATIONS is a gallery-share initiative based in Warsaw. The 2024 edition will feature 10 of the most active galleries based in Poland’s capital, who will share their exhibition spaces with international gallery guests: BWA Warszawa, Fundacja Galerii Foksal, Gunia Nowi, Monopol, Piktogram, Dawid Radziszewski, Raster, Stereo, Turnus, and Wanda.

By accident we are all here. Coincidence brought us together, collaboration keeps us close. Happy accidents of objective chance, what André Breton would call the ‘magical-circumstantial’. Serendipitous moments that transform ordinary life into eruptions of spontaneous energy. Everyday objects appear ‘rare’, places become ‘strange’, meetings ‘sudden’. Futures yet to come, the tantalising ache of those unknown or just out of reach.

video

Architectures of desire and control suppresses the power to connect with and for ourselves. Knowledge is incarcerated in property and patents, held hostage in vaults of gatekept towers. Social attention surrenders to bright atomising ledgers of spectacle. To exchange intimate thoughts and feelings is more crucial than ever.

A Rorschach test through time and space, a hall of mirrors pushed to fractal infinity. A never-ending litany of calls, minutes and catch ups. Progress, practice. A twist of fate.
