Ania Bąk, Piotrek Kowalski

How do you make time? Especially one between the ticks, between sleeping and being. And again, stop. I don't have a second to spare. I write this with eternal stops. It used to be... Just the sun, me and the shadows. At night I'm out of duty. And now I stand and stare, at something that reminds me of what it was back then, artificial light marks out imaginary directions, signs of the time spent alone with other objects hangs on the wall. In the middle they stand, imitating me from then, mixing up the hours. Wonder what the time is? Fine by me, I hang and stare and wait, maybe something will change in this repetitive rhythm of my being there. I look for differences. I hang and tick.

Meeting somewhere in between the work of Ania Bąk and Piotrek Kowalski, fascinated by materials and processing a hundredfold.

Starting point for the work of both is repeatedly processing the same materials. Bąk, creates eye-softening paintings based on textiles – delaminated and restitched onto painted canvases. Kowalski's raw sculptural forms are created from things found in junkyards and disassembled. The organic cosiness of the paintings will intermingle with the raw sculptural forms created from everyday objects. Textiles, taken apart – with dismantled clocks and signposts.

The Here and Then exhibition featured guided tours in English with Sabina Hanus, in Polish for seniors (but not only) with Kamila Falęcka and Marcelina Gorczyńska, in Ukrainian with Taras Gembik, and in sign language with Daniel Kotowski (translated into spoken Polish). Each tour ended with refreshments, snacks, and time for conversation.
