Castles are everywhere in Poland. Old ones, new ones, rebuilt ones, imagined ones. Existing monuments are swelling, reconstruction follows reconstruction, and castles are appearing where none existed before. Despite criticism and enormous costs, these investments continue to thrive.
The exhibition features works by Nicolas Grospierre, Marta Ejsmont, and Mateusz Pawlukiewicz, and the installation created by us and Mariia Kolomiitseva in collaboration with Zuzanna Bartoszek, Wiktoria Kieniksman, Ant Łakomsk, Kuba Stępień, and Paweł Donhöffner Zięba.
The installation proposes a critical reworking of “castle-ness”, reducing the castle to a recognizable archetype and relieving it of the weight of monumentality.
See you at the castle 🏰✨
